North Texas Watering Guide

The following are some basic guidelines for watering turf grasses in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Individual specifics will vary, and you should always be ready to modify your watering schedule based on local conditions.

Time of day:

Always set your sprinkler system to water between midnight and dawn. Set your system up with a one hour gap between cycles to minimize runoff.

Summer Watering

During the heat of the Summer, it can be tempting to water your grass everyday. This is not only impractical, but it is also inefficient. Your goal when watering, either manually or with an irrigation system, is to maintain a beautiful lawn while conserving water. By following the Summer watering guide below, you will achieve the optimum results for your turf grass.
